There is a variety of artists and genres who play and you can catch something different and special every week. Artists from all over the state have performed, and we are excited to share even more great Indiana music with our community!

Here is a recap of our featured artists in June 2023. Check out this great local talent. We encourage you to check out these artists and come listen with us.

Chris Wolf

“Chris Wolf? Never heard of him.” If you know you know, HA! But really, if you have been around the local folk or singer-songwriter music scene in Indiana, you probably have heard of Chris Wolf. And, you can appreciate the ongoing joke for which he event had stickers made for! Chris has hosted many open mics, played festivals, events, concerts, house concerts, and more! He plays solo and with groups including his current project ‘CPR Revival’. He has also played with seasoned artists and encouraged many young musicians throughout Indiana.

Chris is a talented guitarist and singer/songwriter and he played the first free MFT concert in June. He is also a super kind and down-to-earth person who even invited his wife Dianne up to sing a sweet love song with him during his set at the Circle Centre Series. Do not be fooled though. Not all his songs are love songs. Chris Wolf has a lot of silly songs including a crowd favorite “Poop on the Moon” and his silly lyrics tell a story.

Dear Lincoln

Deal Lincoln is a modern folk quartet of young, talented professionals who love making music together. Their music has roots in indie and traditional folk. The group plays a variety of instruments and had quite the setup that offered so many sound combinations. Their music was rhythmic and harmonic. Those who came to hear them play had fun listening.

The band includes Lyndsey Furry on vocals, ukulele, and auxiliary percussion with her husband Eric Furry on guitar. They are joined by bandmates Jimmy Wingett on sax, clarinet, banjo, flute, and vocals, as well as Nathan Thompson on keyboard, guitar, and vocals.

Monique Rust

The next local artist to play at our free concert series in June was Monique Rust. “This girl makes music and other things.” And, she has quite a voice! Not only does she have a beautiful singing voice musically but in her spirit, lyrics, stories, and vision. She has a story of activism and advocacy which you can read more about on her website. Her music was very soulful and soothing.

You could tell what an impact Monique has made on those around her. Monique’s teenage daughter came to listen and she was clearly proud and supportive of her mother’s talent. Monique was working on some new songs and while she sang along with most of them, there were a few instrumentals in the mix too.

J.C. Clements Band

The last band to play in June was the J.C. Clements band. “J.C. Clements lyrics have teeth and tell the truths of what it’s like to love someone with addiction, power through the hours to pay the bills, and never let go of your dreams.” Bandleader, J.C. was so excited to be playing at the Musical Family Tree series and she had such a positive and engaging spirit.

The band has a blues, country, rock roots feel and it was very energetic. The music was fun to listen to and attracted mall guests. J.C. was giving away her latest CD release, Distance, to anyone who attended and wanted one. She is a generous person, obviously, and lose to share her music with others. Creating music and performing is really something she gets excited about and that energy was contagious.

We hope you can join us next Tuesday (and every Tuesday in 2023!) for live local music at Circle Centre Mall! Bring the kids and have dinner at one of the mall’s food vendors while you listen to music with us. #listenlocal
